Our first show in Nepal was a pretty magical one out of the gate taking place at Uma Maheshwor Temple with our friends @himalayan.highway. We get to play another show with these talented musicians again tonight at @moksh_live for their inaugural Kathmandu Bluegrass Fest! The lineup also includes @grassystrings, @_ryanod_ and The KTM Bluegrass Unit so you are not going to want to miss! Show starts at 6pm and you can get your tickets at the door. 🎶 —— A little background about this incredible location… Uma Maheshwar temple situated near the Malla-period palace on the top of the Kirtipur hill, is also known as Bhavani Shankar. Local Newars call it the Kwa:cho Dega:. Main deities in this temple are standing Lord Siva and Parvati. The temple lies at 1418 m in elevation and offers a great panoramic view of Kathmandu valley and Himalayan range in the north. Ganesh Himal (7606m), Langtang (7234m), Gauri Shankar (7134m) and Cho Oyu (8201m) and Sisapangma (8,013m) are the major peaks easily seen from the temple. Triyog, a school rich in a tradition of excellence, was established way back in 1987 as a premier girls’ school and became co-educational in 1998. It aimed at providing quality education: Triyog symbolizes the ultimate development of the mind, body, and spirit. Starting with just 27 kids and 6 teachers, Triyog now has over 1,200 students and 200 teachers & staff. Thirty five years down the line, Triyog has grown into one of the best schools in Nepal providing Progressive education.

#ABOUTLASTNIGHT ✨ What an absolute honor it was to perform at the iconic @ramsterdamcafe in Nepal. Our set included both American Bluegrass and Nepali Folk tunes, including this legendary song Resham Firiri, composed by Buddhi Pariyar and originally performed by Sunder Shrestha and Dwarika Lal Joshi in 1969. We were joined by special guests @zoelevittmusic of @himalayan.highway and @taralinhardt of Music Arts Adventures who introduced us to this magical venue. And speaking of this magical venue, we can’t close out this post without sharing a little bit about the Ramsterdam Cafe, a popular spot near Boudha where you’ll find coffee, beer/drinks, food, and live music all under one roof. The owner Ram, previously owned a book and video store so you’ll find a plethora of nostalgic inventory lining the walls. The heartbeat of this eclectic café established in 2014 is its upcycled ethos, showcasing repurposed decor which makes up about 95% of the space. International flags, wall hangings, and original illustrations of artists like Jerry Garcia creates the super special and unique vibe that draws an audience of artists, filmmakers, poets, musicians, and adventurers from all over the world, leaving you incredibly curious about the many stories within it’s walls.
